This starling nest box has been hand made using high grade 21mm thick Western Red Cedar so you know it is built to last. 

This starlings nestbox is camera ready, it includes a gardenature quick release camera bracket so you can easily slot one of our nestbox cameras into position. There is a cable tray to keep the connections safely away from the nesting chamber and a window in the roof to allow enough daylight to support a colour camera. The nestbox hole is 45mm, there are 4 drain holes in the bird box floor. The front and top panels are screwed for ease of cleaning out which is recommended to be in the months of September and October.

Starling Facts

Smaller than blackbirds, with a short tail, pointed head, triangular wings, starlings look black at a distance but when seen closer they are very glossy with a sheen of purples and greens. Their flight is fast and direct and they walk and run confidently on the ground. Noisy and gregarious, starlings spend a lot of the year in flocks. Still one of the commonest of garden birds.

Conspicuous and widespread in the UK, they are seen everywhere except for the highest parts of the Scottish Highlands. They are most abundant in southern England and are more thinly distributed in upland areas with moorland. Still one of the UKs commonest garden birds. Huge roosts are found in plantations, reed beds and city centres.

Starlings can be seen all year round. Large numbers arrive in the autumn to spend the winter here. Their diet is mainly Insects and fruit.
