BTO Garden Nest Survey

Gardenature are proud to be official sponsors for the BTO 2010 Garden Nesting Survey.

The BTO Garden Nesting Survey has launched!

Some birds use our gardens for nesting, perhaps seeking out the cover provided by an ornamental shrub or the nest box you erected over the winter. This summer we are running the Garden Nesting Survey in an attempt to find out which birds are nesting in gardens across Britain and Ireland.

If you can spend a bit of time each week, to search for nesting birds in your garden, then we'd really like you to take part.

What do I need to do?

1. Register for the survey - click only the link below

2. Enter some simple details about your garden.

3. Start searching for nests in your garden from Sunday 28th March onwards.

4. You will be able to enter any nests found during a particular week, from the following Sunday.

The Garden Nesting Survey is one of a suite of projects being carried out this year under the BTO Nesting Neighbours banner. It is the easiest of the Nesting Neighbours projects to take part in and provides a great introduction to nest recording. Click on the Nesting Neighbours logo at the foot of this page if you would like to access the other Nesting Neighbours Surveys.

If you are not sure which of the Nesting Neighbours projects is best suited for you, then click here for more information. Otherwise, use the links on the top of this page to access information on how to take part, find out more about nesting birds, or access other parts of the BTO website.

Email nestingneighbours@bto.org with your name and address to request your survey pack and free nests and eggs wallchart.
