Camera Ready Discovery Nest Box

Please Note: This is a Camera Ready Nest Box. It does NOT include a camera but has appropriate fittings to house one of our camera systems.   

The nest box itself follows the classic design for a nest box and will attract the widest range of garden birds. We use high quality Western Red Cedar (from renewable sources) so the box requires no treatment with preservatives or other chemicals as the natural oils in the wood will protect it against the harshest weather conditions. The roof fits into a slot in the rear panel preventing rain from entering the box and is easily removed for cleaning out at the end of the breeding season.

The nest box has a removable front panel with a 32mm entrance hole making it suitable for the widest range of garden birds including:

• Blue Tits
• Coal Tits
• Marsh Tits
• Great Tits
• House Sparrows
• Robins (with the front panel removed)
• And possibly Wrens

You may read in various publications that the entrance hole must be a particular size to attract a specific species of bird (eg. 25mm for Blue Tits etc). However, these are purely GUIDELINES and our experience has shown (in consultation with the RSPB) that a 32mm hole will not deter Blue Tits, or any of the other small hole nesting garden birds, in the slightest. Using a 32mm hole maximises the chances of a pair of birds nesting in the box, which is the key point if you want to be able to use your camera! The camera position offers fantastic wide angle views of the inside of the nest box. The whole of the base of the nest box can be seen along with the entrance hole so you won\'t miss any of the action!
