The Original Insect House is an excellent general habitat for solitary bees (non-aggressive and non-swarming bees which improve plant pollination and fruit yields in the garden), and beneficial predatory insects such as ladybirds and lacewings in the Spring/Summer. Made from naturally durable timber for strength, insulation and longevity, the wood density also provides good insulation for over-wintering ladybirds and lacewings. These insects are essential to encourage natural predation on aphids and greenfly and to help minimise chemical use in the garden. The original Insect House is ideal for wildlife and conservation areas and for encouraging the study of insect wildlife in schools etc.

Siting: Locate in a sheltered place, near nectar /pollen plants or a pond. To encourage solitary bees, site the house where it will catch the morning sun.
